There is a large problem looming through bond insurance companies' lack of ability to cover obligations when bonds are not paid, purchasers of large banks' commitments to fund mergers drying up, thereby leaving the lenders with no additional money to lend. Result? Markets screeching to a halt, despite the feds cutting rates 1.25 points in a little over a week.
