Economic Roller Coaster Continues: And, according to Sam, we ain't seen nothin yet. Why? There is a large problem looming through bond insurance companies' lack of ability to cover obligations when bonds are not paid, purchasers of large banks' commitments to fund mergers drying up, thereby leaving the lenders with no additional money to lend. Result? Markets screeching to a halt, despite the feds cutting rates 1.25 points in a little over a week. Some real life examples can be seen through Louise Roug's "Hard Times in the Florida Panhandle", published Monday in the L.A. Times, and Deidre's recent personal shopping experience. Tune in!
Politics: We continue to be fascinated by the twists and turns on the way to the White House, as Deidre reports on her early voting experience, Sam on Edwards' and Guiliani's withdrawals, and both on Dave Lindorff's "This Campaign's a B-Movie with a B List of Characters", published yesterday in
www.afterdowningstreet.org. Join us for our comments on the front runners, Ralph Nader, Ron Paul and more, as we lurch toward the February 5 semi-national primary day.
Our Humble Beginnings: In response to a request from our virtual buddy, Carl Blare (KDX Radio in St. Louis), we explained how we got to this place. Special thanks to Walter Bowen who gave us initial encouragement, and to Janet our webgenius, who keeps us going! And thanks to Carl, who publishes our podcasts for his audiences twice a week.
The next time you hear from us will be Monday, February 4. Thanks for your support!
