Politics: Well, well, well. You cannot be surprised that we lead off with this topic, considering Obama's ten for ten contest wins. However, there are some twists and turns, as evidenced by our comments on Sanford D. Horwitt's "Friendly Advice for Hillary", published Wednesday in
www.huffingtonpost.com, Pam Martens' claim that Obama is receiving big money from lobbyists published Wednesday in
www.counterpunch.org, Obama's letter Wednesday to USA Today explaining his position with respect to publicly-funded elections, and
www.alternet's Rory O'Connor's "McCain's Media Mastermind Will Quit if Obamas is the Nominee" published Wednesday . All fascinating and must-listens, along with our comments on Steve Cobbles' "Give Dennis Kucinich His Due", published in The Nation, courtesy of
www.afterdowningstreet.org .
Law: Scary stuff- We first turn to the current U.S. Supreme Court's potential limiting of the 4th Amendment in "Supreme Court to Review 'Exclusionary Rule on Evidence", as explained by David Savage in Wednesday's L.A. Times, followed by Doug Kendall's "What Would a McCain Supreme Court Look Like?", published in Monday's Alternet. Then there is the Congressional fight over the Protect America Act as summarized by Paul Craig Roberts in "Lies and Spies", as outlined in
www.counterpunch.org on Wednesday, which is an excellent summary of the fear-mongering the government continues to push on the sheep in its effort to get us to buy into accepting spying on citizens without any oversight whatsoever. Listen up and consider the ramifications when you vote!
War: Paul Craig Roberts outdoes himself in "Paying Insurgents Not to Fight", published Tuesday in counterpunch. Seems the U.S. is spending $800,000 per day to Sunni insurgents not to attack our troops. Roberts' point is that they can (and probably will) up the ante very soon, as we are already spending $275,000 million per day to fund the war, and increased demands would still be cheaper than McCains' commitment to a 100 year war. Listen Up, please!
With any luck at all, we'll be back Mon. February 25 for our 298th podcast. If you encourage 10 people to join us, we could grow exponetially for our 300th on March 3rd!
Thanks for all you do.
