Rove Getting a Taste of the Heat? Perhaps. Scott Horton's "No Comment" column in Harper's, Mark Crispin Miller's piece, "Rove in State of Panic" posted through David Swanson in Saturday's
www.afterdownstreet.org , along with the Tuscaloosa News' report of a recent interview with former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman shortly after his release from a federal prison pending the appeal of his conviction that Siegelman claims was politically motivated personally by Mr. Rove through the Justice Department makes for an interesting discussion. Maybe, just maybe Rove will appear on the Hill, under oath. We will not hold our collective breaths, however.
Obama- We Miss You: That would be the man who inspired so many, but who has sort of evolved into a traditonal politician of late. Come on--where's the fire and ire?
McCain/McSame/McMad/McFraud: You've got to join us for this segment, which is chock full of commentary based on Alexander Cockburn's " 'Hero' John McCain as Phony and Collaborator: What Really Happened When He was a POW", published in the weekend edition of
www.counterpunch.org, Robert Scheer's "The Man Who Would Be Bush", published Tuesday in
www.truthdig.com., Matthew Rothschild's "McCain's Right Wing Economics, published Wednesday in The Progresssive, and Michael Leahy's piece in Sunday's Washington Post, " McCain: A Question of Temperament". We implore you to listen up and encourage others to as well. This is very serious stuff.
Election 2008: Yes, it seems it will never get here, judging by the last 15 month crawl/walk/sprint heading to it. However, our attention was gotten by David Swanson's "The 2008 Election Will Be Stolen", outlining a collection of essays on the subject edited by Mark Crispin Miller in Saturdays's AfterDowningStreet. Why? Join us to find out.
War: Listen up as we tiptoe through reality with Condi Rice visiting Iraq where she's told by Al-Malaki that the country is entering a political spring, while Al-Sadr threatens to blow all Malaki sympathizers (including of course U.S. troops) to kingdom come with his suicide bombers, while Congressman Keith Ellison, a Democrat from Minneapolis reminds his constituents as they paid their federal income taxes last week that 43 cents of every dollar they pay goes to the military, thanks to David Swanson's Thursday AfterDowningStreet post. It's enough to make one feel a little schizoid!
The Massacres: We're talking in this country, including "The Orangeburg Massacre" published Thursday in TruthDig by Amy Goodman, and Rosewood Florida, not to mention Kent State. We should never forget. Sorry. The truth can be quite unpleasant.
We'll be back, short of a disaster, Thursday April 24. Thanks for keeping us motivated. Tell a friend. Buy something from our little store. Email a message/comment!
