  Listen

The Tax Man Cometh: Apparently to many areas of the United States, in the form of huge property tax increases, which we have noted in Baldwin County, Alabama and New Orleans, in particular. Deidre has a lot to say, as hers were raised 400% , while Sam's opinion is less emotional and based on experience. Interesting!

How Hot is It Anyway? Damn hot, if you believe the news about an exploding lawnmower and a spontaneously combusting playground. Good news: don't play outside or mow your grass!  Listen for details.

Double Standard Thriving: That would pertain to Sam's opinion concerning Patrick Syring's indictment in federal court by the U.S. attorney's office in Virginia for having threatened Arab nations while our leadership goes scott free for doing the same thing on a regular basis. Food for thought here.

Karl Rove Departs, Now What? : Excellent question. We discuss three very interesting articles in this segment- Adele Stan's "What Really Brought Rove Down?", published in Tuesday's American Prospect, Michael Winship's "The Jaundiced Rove of Texas" published Tuesday in Truthout ,and Don WiIlliams' "Fess Up Karl, Like Atwater Before You- An Open Letter", published in Wednesday's www.afterdowningstreet.org. You need to read the Williams piece before joining us. Why? Because we left off the real dirt!

Dire Financial Times Ahead: David Walker, comptroller general of the United States, has produced a very sobering report of this country's future, as reported by Jeremy Grant in The Financial Times. Sam talks often about the lessons of history; this report compares our situation to the fall of Rome. A must-listen, thought-provoking segment!

Paul Craig Roberts Dissects Power of Israel: A repeat topic because it gets a little complicated, we begin a discussion of Roberts' "No American President Can Stand Up to Israel", published Wednesday in www.counterpunch.org.  As Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan Administration with heady credentials with both the Wall Street Journal and the National Review, we have no reason to argue with Roberts' opinions about much of anything. This subject will be continued, believe it!
