The Divide Between the Haves and Have Nots Widens By The Day

  Listen

Feds Bail Out Banks While Little People Lose Homes: Brent Budowsky's "Grapes of Wrath Return", published in The Hill echoes what Sam has been saying for days- federal lowering of discount rates helps banks but does nothing for people who are losing their homes because of skyrocketing adjustable rate mortgages payments. And many of these homeowners have had jobs outsourced or eliminated while coping with increased costs of gasoline, medicine and food, plus face IRS tab due for the foreclosed lost home. Yep, once again the little guys finish in last place, and the economy as a whole is not benefitting from the fed's upside-down policy. Listen up and learn.

Protestors- There's a White House Manual on How to Deal with You! You'll enjoy this segment, in which we discuss Peter Baker's explanation of the White House manual published in Wednesday's Washington Post. Apparently the manual was coughed up through an ACLU subpoena with respect to a lawsuit filed on behalf of two people who were arrested for refusing to cover anti-Bush t shirts during a 2004 speech at the West Virginia State Capital. Fascinating. Join us to find uot how you, too, might be entitled to $40,000.

U.S.Clearly Number One: Really? Really. According to Daniel Lazare's "Stars and Bars", published in the August 27 issue of The Nation, this country jails at the highest rate on earth - with 5% of the world's population, it has 25% of the world's prisoners. Join us and then go to www.thenation.com to read the entire article. It's a real eye opener, we promise.

Big Pharma Has Very Deep Pockets: We knew this, but Martiga Lohn's "Minnesota Law Sheds Light on Drug Companies", published Wednesday by Associated Press gives an entirely different perspective. Apparently Minnesota is one of only three states that requires drug companies to report payments to doctors for lectures, consulting, research and other services. How does $350,000 sound for speaking about a product? Not a bad secondary source of income, we say. Lots of food for thought here.

Thanks for your continued support. We'll be back Monday, August 27. Stay cool or dry, depending on where you are.
