Same Old Song With A Different Verse

  Listen

Whooooooooo, buddy! It's the Variety Show!  Attempting to broaden our usual run of the mill topics of corruption, waste, politics and fraud, we actually expand into art, religion (of sorts) and child support (well, just a little). Our program includes (not necessarily in the correct order):

Water, Water Everywhere for Those Who Have Special Buddies:  You know the drill by now. The haves have buddies, while the rest suffer and will continue to. And perhaps all of us will in the long run. Listen up!

War Commentary: Tim Russert stepped into it Sunday morning on Meet The Press with NBC Middle East Correspondent Richard Engle, Tim Ricks, Washington Post Senior Military Correspondent, and Michael Gordon, N.Y. Times Chief Military Correspondent. Not to mention John Warner, former chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee. You're just going to have to listen in to learn our take on this extraordinary program. And then on a related note, we touch on "Iraq fraud whistleblowers villified", published in AP on Saturday. Wish we could say it's all good. It's not. At all.

Ted Haggard's Fixed and Fishing for Cash: This segment's talking point source is unbelievable: Pam Spaulding's "Ted Haggard's Back, He's 'Completely Hetero' and He's Begging for Cash" , published in Saturday's www.alternet.org is really an eyeopener. We promise. Hint: Three weeks of therapy, a move to Phoenix and a need to replace the former $138k/year salary with donations while the good former Church leader learns to be a COUNSELOR??????? Oh, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Arts: Thanks to Christopher Reynolds, L.A. Times staff writer for  writing "Faceoff: Mt. Rushmore vs. Crazy Horse Memorial". It gave us a much-needed break from the truly ugly. You need to join us to learn about two very different sculpted mountains located in the Black Hills of South Dakota, the creators, and the results. Fascinating!

Don't Like Malaki? Don't Worry, There's a Lobbying Firm Working to Replace Him: Amazing. Ed Henry's "Powerhouse GOP Firm Working to Undermine Iraqi PM" , published Saturday by CNN is really instructive. You'll have to listen to find out more. And if you have been awake and listening for a while, you'll not be surprised.

Child Support-You Owe, You Gotta Pay to Travel: We love this one, published August 16 in the Baltimore Sun. And so will you. We say, if you can afford to travel places that require a passport, you should pay your back support! Join us!

We'll be back Thursday, August 30. Thanks for listening!
