Sow the wind and Reap the Whirlwind

  Listen

Economics: We begin with an email from one of our listeners about capitalism and socialism and things in between. We then move on to Jim Lobe's "Rich-Poor Divide Worst Among Rich Countries", published Wednesday by Inter Press Service, posted on www.commondreams.org, Campbell Brown's "Commentary: Unnecessary Portrait Perks", published Tuesday on www.cnn.com, Wayne the local barber's comments, and the allocated beneficiaries of the bailout--those who brought this mess upon us all. Fascinating and depressing at the same time. Trust us and listen up!

Palin, the Lightning Rod: We continue to shake our collective heads about this woman. We turn to Jeanne Cummings' "RNC shells out $150k for Palin fashion", posted Tuesday in Polito.com, as amplified in Huffington Post Wednesday morning, and AP's Tuesday revelation, "Palin children traveled on state funds" for our focus. We also comment on McCain and Palin's interview with Brian Williams, broadcast Wednesday, which sounded to us like more sound bites on their political platform than a true interview. Sam sounds off on the apparent sheep-like following tendency of many of our number with his usual biting and dead-on accuracy. Tune in, folks--we have 12 days left and a lot can happen, including a voter nightmare on November 4 and even before with early voting. Don't miss this segment!

On the Horizon: Bad stuff, that's what. Especially if you are endangered,  human or otherwise. Tune in to our commentary on Dina Cappiello's "Feds Rush To Ease Endangered Species Rules", published Wednesday by AP (hint at the outcome: the feds have 15 reviewers, 200,000 comments and 32 hours to go through all of them) and Maury Klein's Wednesday CNN commentary, "Commentary: Is it 1929 all over again?" which we realize should fit under economics, but too bad, it's also a history lesson, and all too soon in all probability to be repeated, unfortunately. So sit down with your favorite beverage and pay close attention to what we have become and are becoming. AND ACT!

Pakistan Threatens To Blow While We're Distracted: We close with Andrew Buncombe, Anne Penketh and Omar Waraich's "Pakistan Stares into the abyss", published Thursday in www.independent.co.uk , and it's not pretty. Not at all. According to this report, Pakistan, the only Muslim nation with nukes, is on the edge. So listen in!

We hope to return on Monday, October 27. We guarantee there will be plenty of developments between now and then. Tell a friend and thanks for your support.
