Should the Past Be The Prologue?

  Listen

To Bail Or Not to Bail?: That's the many billion dollar question with respect to the U.S. auto industry. Join in as we delve into various positions taken by the likes of  Senators Richard Shelby, Barney Frank and Carl Levin, along with economists, Neil Young from the Huffington Post, and GM CEO Rick Wagner. Lots of pressure, lots at stake. It will be interesting to see how it shakes out in Congress this week, or whether this mess, along with many others, will be left for President-elect Obama to clean up in January.

Obama Making Nice As He Builds A Team: First it was Hillary. Now it's McCain and even Joe Lieberman. Wazzsup? Sam says it's pragmatic.  Deidre says something else, like accountability should factor in on some of these folks. We invite your thoughts on the matter.

Good News: Yes, there is some, as we focus on Scientific American's November 3 special edition featuring "Plasma Turns Garbage into Gas" by Melinda Wenner, and Nicholas Kristof's November 16 N.Y. Times op-ed "Talia for President". If you want a little break from all the gloom and doom, join us for this segment.

Don Siegelman's Nightmare: The latest revelations about the circumstances of former the Alabama Governor's trial and conviction are startling, to say the least. We refer to information contained in Adam Zagorin's "More Allegations of Misconduct in Alabama Governor Case", published November 14 in Time, and Zachary Roth's report of his interview with Mr. Siegelman about the new allegations, posted Friday in www.tpmmuckraker.com. A must-listen segment. We're waiting to see what the 11th Circuit will do after the January oral argument on the appeal. And also wonder if the new, yet-to-be-named  Attorney General will take any steps to correct the situation.

Pardon, Pardon, Who's Got the Pardon?: We know some will be forthcoming, and we wonder for whom. Listen up as we explore the possibilities, using Charles Savage's "Bush, Out of Office, Could Oppose Inquiries", published Thursday in the N.Y.Times, Article II, Section 2 of the United States Constitution, Wikepedia, and Jon Roland of the Constitutional Society as resources.

Our plan is to return on Thursday, November 20. Please help us out by spreading the word! Thanks for listening.
