In our last podcast of the year, our topics include:
Then and Now: Thanks to our friend Sarah's contribution, we are reminded of U.S. statistics concerning wages, life expectancy, over the counter drugs and grocery prices in 1907 as compared to today. Listen up cause things go downhill from here.
Adult Sues Kid and Gets Run Out of Town: According to the Rocky Mountain News, a Pa. man filed a federal lawsuit against a 10 year old boy for injuring him in a Colorado skiing accident and all hell broke loose. So many angry phone calls, e-mails and work-place threats rained down, the man and his wife were forced to leave their home for the holidays. We'd like to hear from you on this segment.
Paul Keil's " 'Angry Black Man' Does GOTV " published last week in
www.tpmuckraker got our attention, as it will yours. Seems Allen Raymond, a former GOP consultant who went down in flames over the 2002 New Hampshire phone jamming of Democratic get-out-the-vote phone banks has a tell-all book coming out in January. Why? Because having been thrown under the bus, Raymond has nothing left to lose. Join us as we discuss Raymond's description of how the phones were used to attack incumbent Dem. N.J. Representative Rush Holt. We also touch on opensecrets.org's report of the 2004 shredding of Democratic voter registration forms in Nevada, West Virginia and Oregon. Fascinating.
Cozy Governmental Structure Continues: We found two articles to illustrate the point- Spencer Ackerman's "Ex-Archives Security Chief: Cheney Self -Exemption 'Remarkable' " and " CIA Wraps Up Probe of Its Own Inspector-General", both published in
www.tpmuckraker.com. Ah yes, the more things change, the more they remain the same. Listen up and weep.
Adding Insult to Injury: Matthew Mosk's "As Primaries Begin, the FEC Will Shut Down" published December 22 in the Washington Post should get you going. Seems the FEC will go dark on January 1 because three recess appointments will expire and one current opening will leave only two members who cannot take any official action, including releasing money to the 7 presidential candidates who have applied to receive public matching funds. H-m-m-m-m. Join us for the sorry details.
In deference to the continuing holiday season, we'll be back January 3. Stay safe. We need and appreciate your support. Happy New Year!
